St Margarets Church and Community Centre – About 40 people enjoyed the Carol and Christingle service followed by mince pies and mulled wine, and over 60 people welcomed in Christmas at the ‘midnight’ service on Christmas Eve. The Christingle service collection raised £178.48 for the Children’s Society and carol singing round the village raised £212.92 for Save the Children. Many thanks to the singers and to all who gave so generously. Please check centre pages for details of church services during February. Please ring Margaret Davis on 550703, Anna on 540610 or Richard on 541522 if you want more information or to ask any questions. Christmas Bazaar (‘Rosey’s do’) – raised £573.12 for village funds. Many thanks to all those who helped organise it, provided goods and refreshments and who came along to support the event.
St Margarets Talks – the second talk in our series in November heard Linda Robinson describe her experiences in the Calais Jungle with lots of photographs illustrating the difficulties of the young people and families stranded there. A retiring collection raised #193 to provide practical help and support to meet their most basic needs.
100 Club – December winners were Paul Alexander and John Matheron (£50) and Susan Dean and Sebastion Arend-Trujillo (£10). Warmest congratulations to all of them. The new cycle will begin in early Spring and Anna will be writing round asking members to sign up at £12 a year. Please ring her if you are a new ‘joiner’ to be sure you’re not missed!

The next meeting is the annual coffee morning at 10.30 am on Thursday 15 February to discuss and plan the programme for the year. The annual subscription – still only £5 per person, 10 for family membership for the year – will also be collected there. Lots of ideas for this year’s programme. More to follow as the programme firms up. As always, everyone is welcome to any of our events’.
